HORSE HANDLING 101

Enrichment Program

Take your love of horses to the next level with our Horses Handling 101 Class! This class is a great opportunity for both new and experienced students to learn about horse care. In this non-riding class, students will practice their horse-handling skills through hands-on activities like grooming and leading and increase their knowledge about horse safety, anatomy, tack and equipment, behavior, and herd dynamics through horse care activities.

Students must safely be able to:

  1. Follow verbal directions
  2. Maintain quiet bodies and calm voices in horse zone
  3. Gently groom and interact with the horse on the ground
  4. Wear appropriate safety attire (boots)
  5. Feel comfortable working on the ground with the horse (ex: grooming, leading, tacking, etc)
  6. Note about Neurodiversity: T.R.O.T.R. is a certified adaptive riding center. If you have a neuro-diverse child and are wondering if our program would be a good fit please feel free to reach out to our office.
