Therapeutic Riding and Off-Track Rehabilitation

Plan a Field Trip

A field trip to T.R.O.T.R. offers engaging, hands-on, farm-based educational experiences, where students will experience first-hand the day-to-day operations of a working farm. It also allows teachers to give their students a unique experience that aligns with their educational goals. Our discovery and collaboration based approach works to evoke children’s curiosity and imagination. T.R.O.T.R.’s field trip programs focus on cultivating students’ learning skills in an outdoor environment. In this Field Trip you will learn about responsibility, teamwork, horsemanship and enhance your social skills in a safe, fun, and ranch environment with our dedicated, loving T.R.O.T.R. Team member.

Together we will:

  • Experience the rhythm of farm life and start each day with chores and greeting the animals
  • Work together to care for ponies, goats, chickens, pigs every day
  • Learn about farm life and nature with hands-on learning activities in the garden and natural world

Students have the opportunity to try a variety of activities focused on building a deep and meaningful connection to nature. Our core activities include animal interaction, nature based crafts, and seasonal gardening. Ample time is given to exploration, observation, unstructured nature play, and games as well.

Our field trips can be scheduled Mondays through Fridays, for anywhere from 2-4 hours long, and include lessons, activities, and time for outdoor free play; lunch and snack can be scheduled into your trip as well. Field trips are offered for all age and grade levels, year around, with special events throughout the year. All trips are customizable based on interest and can be aligned with California State Educational Standards.

Field trips are priced on a sliding scale from $15 - $25 per student which covers part of the cost for this program. T.R.O.T.R. raises additional funds to subsidize this program so that all schools and students have access to our field trip experiences. Customized trips vary in cost depending on educational needs and length of visit.

In addition to homeschoolers and other school classes, members of local Senior Living Groups and community members may enjoy visiting the ranch and spending time socializing while also increasing their confidence.

You can spend your time grooming one of the horses or hang out with one of the barn animals who would love some extra attention. We have everything from Clydesdales to miniature horses, in addition to our silly goats, pigs, chickens, llamas, alpacas, cows and even a miniature Donkey!
