Horse 101

Take your love of horses to the next level with our Horse 101 Class! This class is a great opportunity for both new and experienced students to learn about horse care and history while meeting other equine enthusiasts. Students will practice their horse-handling skills through hands-on activities like grooming and leading and increase their knowledge about horse safety, anatomy, tack and equipment, behavior, and herd dynamics through crafts, games and horse care activities. This non-riding class is focused on developing deep emotional connection to horses and developing confidence on the ground. Students will also go visit the other TROTR animals.

Students must safely be able to:

  • Follow verbal directions
  • Maintain quiet bodies and calm voices in horse zone
  • Gently groom and interact with the horse on the ground
  • Wear appropriate safety attire (boots)
  • Feel comfortable working on the ground with the horse (ex: grooming, leading, tacking, etc)
  • Note about Neurodiversity: TROTR is a certified adaptive riding center. If you have a neuro-diverse child and are wondering if our program would be a good fit please feel free to reach out to our office.

Basic Skills Class

If you always wanted to learn horseback riding but not having any prior experience with them can be very overwhelming sometime. That is why we have specially created this non-riding class that gives students a chance to learn about horse behavior and communication as well as how to halter, groom, lead a horse and tacking up.

This class helps with confidence and gives an opportunity to practice basic skills necessary for riding.

Advance Skills Class

For more advanced students, this class can be customized to include everything from horse anatomy and physiology to classes focused on liberty training and groundwork.
